Steven S. DeKnight Resigns as Jupiter Legacy Presenter
Next year, Jupiter's Legacy will become Millarworld's first adaptation to Netflix. However, the next series has just come to a creative hurdle. Via DeadlineSteven S. DeKnight left the showrunner position in Jupiter's legacy.
According to the report, DeKnight's departure has ended with "creative differences" and a search for his replacement is underway. DeKnight created the adaptation of Frank Quitely's Mark Millar and Jupiter's Legacy TV series. The comics and the television show follow the first generation of superheroes, as well as their modern descendants who can't live up to their predecessors.
Previously, DeKnight worked closely with Marvel and Netflix as Daredevil's showrunner. Apparently DeKnight wrote and directed the first episode of Jupiter's Legacy and finished filming the first four episodes of the season before his departure.
The deadline report indicates that Jupiter's legacy will not be hiatus until a new showrunner is hired. Instead, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott will air the existing episodes alongside Millar and the new showrunner before determining if re-shoots are needed.
Jupiter's Legacy stars Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Matt Lanter, and Mike Wade. It is also the first Millarworld project produced by Netflix since it signed a multi-million dollar deal with Millar. The series debuts at Netflix in 2020.
