This Wednesday, the Brazilian state of São Paulo has 201 dead waiting to be tested for the new coronavirus, the state government said, adding that the total number of tests awaiting the result is 16 thousand.

The state government of São Paulo, which is the Brazilian state most affected by Covid-19, added that the results of these tests on fatal victims should be released within the next 24 hours, taking into account that a working group dedicated to tests for the new coronavirus.

"A portion of these 201 accumulated deaths will be positive. They are people who were infected with Covid-19 and who were not confirmed at the time of death, it will be now", said the State Secretary of Health, José Henrique Germann, in a conference of press.

Due to the delay in making available the results of tests that prove the disease, part of the deaths due to infection with the new coronavirus does not appear in the daily count made by the Ministry of Health.

According to the Federal Government, led by President Jair Bolsonaro, São Paulo today has 164 dead and 2981 infected by the new coronavirus, the state with the highest number of cases.

The new coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, has already infected more than 905,000 people worldwide, of whom almost 46,000 died.

Of the infection cases, at least 176,500 are considered cured.

After appearing in China in December, the outbreak spread worldwide, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a pandemic situation.

The European continent, with over 490 thousand infected and around 33 thousand dead, is the one with the highest number of cases, and Italy is the country in the world with the most fatalities, with 13,155 deaths in 110,574 thousand confirmed cases until Tuesday.
