American actor and comedian Fred Willard died yesterday, aged 86, months after ending his participation in Modern Family with the death of his character, Frank Dunphy.
He was also known for acting on hits such as the 2000 film "The Best of the Show" and the 1996 series "Raymond e Companhia".
Before he died, Willard recorded the series "Space Force", from Netflix, in which he played the father of actor Steve Carell. Production has not yet aired.
US broadcaster ABC reported Willard's death highlighting his 50-year career and referring to him as "one of the busiest comedic actors" in Hollywood.
According to People, the death was due to "natural causes".
"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that my father passed away very peacefully last night, at the fantastic age of 86," his daughter Hope Willard wrote on Twitter. "He kept walking, working and making us happy until the end. We love him so much! We will miss him forever."
