A 33-year-old Portuguese from Marco de Canaveses died Monday night in Luxembourg in a chain accident on the A6 motorway in the commune of Strassen.
The Portuguese emigrant who died in the accident had been living in Luxembourg since 2019, according to the local newspaper "LUX 24". Ana Ferrás, a native of the Union of Parishes of Várzea, Aliviada and Folhada, in the municipality of Marco, would be working in the financial area of a company.
The accident resulted in another deadly victim, a Montenegrin woman who was pregnant, and an injured person, local media report.
The accident occurred around 7 pm and involved several light and heavy vehicles. The two deadly victims were drivers of the cars that were crushed by the trucks involved in the crash.
JN contacted the Luxembourg Police and the local Fire Department but it was not possible to gather more information about the case and the Portuguese victim. "The Luxembourg prosecutor opened an investigation into the accident, so we cannot provide details about the identity or nationality of the victims," said Cédric Gantzer, the head of the country's fire department.
