A Samsung Galaxy Note 9 device caught fire while it was being shown to the public in a Lima, Peru shopping center, local media outlets reported this week.
According to the RPP TV network, the device was on display at the Movistar operator store in the Jockey Plaza mall, when the device suddenly started to smoke. People who were at the scene were scared. No one was hurt.
Still according to the RPP, Samsung regretted the incident and opened investigations to find out exactly what happened.
"For Samsung, the top priority is the safety of our customers. Therefore, after the incident, the company reports that it has begun investigations to determine the causes," the company said in a statement.
In 2016, Samsung had to recall Note 7 due to security concerns after a failure cost the company $ 5.4 billion in operating profit.
