Brad Pitt opened the game and admitted his past abuse of alcohol. Talking to Anthony Hopkins for Interview magazine, published today, they also commented on how they deal with their mistakes.
When asked by the veteran actor about his past problem, Brad stated, "I just saw it as a disservice to myself, as an escape."
Hopkins then said he went through this too and revealed how long he has been without drinking. "Forty-five years old, almost. But I'm not an evangelist about that."
The 55-year-old also cited the importance of learning from his own mistakes. "I think we live in a time when we are extremely critical and quick to treat people as disposable. We always place great importance on error. But the next step, what you do after error, is what really defines a person," declared.
He added, "We're all going to make mistakes. But what's the next step? As a culture, we don't stop to see what this person's next step is. And that's the part that I find so much more invigorating and interesting."
In addition, Pitt said he has changed his behavior over the years. "I'm known for not crying. I haven't been crying for, like, 20 years, and now I find myself in this last phase much more emotional – emotional with my children, my friends, for the news. I don't know where this is going, but I think which is a good sign. "
