Arsenal are ready to take Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey to Emirates Stadium, but are expected to sell the player first, according to reports.
A report released on Monday in Spain claimed that Arsenal ‘will pay the clause’ to take Partey to Emirates Stadium with a ‘closed’ deal after Gunners had previously been linked to the 27-year-old.
The Gunners’ engine room is considered an area of relative weakness, with Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira often failing to provide adequate cover for a vulnerable defense.

David Ornstein wrote in Atlético on Wednesday, Arsenal “intensified its interest in signing” Partey and “will hope to negotiate a lower price” than its € 50 million release clause.
And now the Daily Mail claims that the Gunners are “desperate to raise money” to land Partey and will try to sell Matteo Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette or Lucas Torreira.
Arsenal are “confident” that they will get Partey, but “are facing huge losses” and will probably need to sell before they can buy this summer.
The Ghanaian international is “interested in joining” and Mikel Arteta “marked as an important arrival” in front of the summer transfer window and the “transfer has now been approved by technical director Edu”.
