As a security measure against the new coronavirus, the 60th edition of the Annecy Animation Film Festival in France, has been canceled. The event was scheduled to take place between the 15th and 20th of June this year. Through Twitter, the organizers reported:
"It is with great disappointment that we are resigned to cancel the edition. Motivated by our passion and enthusiasm, despite the restrictions of confinement, we hoped to keep the edition that we had prepared for you. However, the logic and the international situation oblige us to act with clarity. and responsibility. We need to show respect and deep gratitude to health service providers, as well as to all those who choose solidarity and the public interest. "
"The Annecy Festival is a party, a 'family reunion'. We cannot celebrate the excitement and our 60th anniversary when some of you are unable to participate."
"For several weeks, our founding members, partners, suppliers, professionals and creators sent us their full support, and for that, we are immensely grateful. These incentives motivate us to offer an online version of the Annecy Festival 2020. This version would give access to exclusive works and original content, in spite of the current circumstances. We will soon release an offer that is being made. "
"The official selection will be announced on April 15th. The team is mobilized for this project".
The event organization also informed that the new date for the face-to-face event is June 14, 2021.
